Membership Benefits for Energy, Natural Gas & Chemical Manufacturing Companies

Membership with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia provides you with opportunities to network with leaders in the region and grow your business. We provide members with over 150 high-quality programs and events each year, including a number of programs that focus on our growing energy economy.

Today, the Greater Philadelphia region is a national leader in energy production, resources, and innovation. From transmission and distribution to intelligent building and the expansive Marcellus Shale natural gas play, Greater Philadelphia is the strategic energy location in the Northeast.

  • The Northeast corridor boasts 17 percent of the US Population and 20 percent of US GDP
  • Over 50 percent of oil and gas wells drilled in Marcellus Shale are located within three hours of Philadelphia
  • Greater Philadelphia is well-connected with three major ports, interstate highways, a world-class international airport, and a plentiful supply of distribution and warehousing facilities

Regional Assets for Energy Growth

Our team at the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia is helping energy firms and chemical manufacturers in the region establish ties with — and build support among — policymakers, business leaders and citizens of the region.

Natural Gas Opportunities In The Greater Philadelphia Region

THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION IS POISED TO EXPAND ENERGY PRODUCTION in large part due to shale gas development in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The development of Marcellus Shale offers significant opportunities to reduce consumer costs, promote sustainable economic growth, and create jobs throughout the region.

In the Greater Philadelphia region, manufacturing, professional services, higher education and technology sectors all stand to benefit from the responsible development of the shale gas industry. Advanced manufacturing activity is also increasing due to lower energy costs, which in turn creates jobs and increases revenue.

Moreover, the growth of the natural gas industry has down-stream importance for advanced manufacturing, chemicals production, transportation and logistics, and international trade: all of which are keys to economic growth for southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia works hard every day to help businesses in the energy and natural gas sectors succeed. Some of our recent accomplishments include:

Educational and networking events

Presenting more than a dozen educational and networking events highlighting the economic benefits of Marcellus Shale development, including discussions featuring the Honorable Tom Ridge, Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Jim Cawley, and industry leaders such as Chesapeake Energy, PPL EnergyPlus, EQT, and Range Resources.

Supporting consistent and competitive legislation and regulation

Supporting consistent and competitive legislation and regulation in Harrisburg, such as uniform zoning provisions of Act 13.

Green Buildings Opportunities In The Philadelphia Region

Green Buildings

WITH MAJOR INITIATIVES LIKE THE ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDINGS HUB (EEB HUB) — established in Philadelphia by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as an Energy-Regional Innovation Cluster — Greater Philadelphia is leading the way in green building. The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia partners with the EEB Hub on a variety of programming to promote green buildings and energy efficiency, connecting energy users with the companies who can save them resources. Greater Philadelphia's Energy Action Team

Energy Action Team

THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR GREATER PHILADELPHIA, Select Greater Philadelphia, and the CEO Council for Growth created the Greater Philadelphia Energy Action Team to seize the opportunities presented by this new “Energy Renaissance.” The team is comprised of C-level energy-industry experts, current and former government officials, and leaders from higher education institutions. They serve as ambassadors, advocates, and educators for expansion of and investment in the energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors in the area.

The Action Team works with any person or firm seeking to establish a new energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure project in the region. Together, the Action Team and Select Greater Philadelphia can provide guidance to companies about the competitive advantage the region offers to prospective employers and investors. The advantages include, among other things: a prime location near demand areas; access to a trained, educated, and skilled workforce; transportation infrastructure including the interstate highway system, rail access, and the deep seagoing port; and a diverse and exceptional higher education infrastructure.

As a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, you gain access to many exclusive events with public officials and decision makers working on energy-related issues in the region and have the opportunity to support the Energy Action Team as they work to influence the future of the energy economy in Philadelphia.
