The fashion industry can sometimes appear frivolous or too focused on the short term burn and churn of “the season.” The fact remains, however, that this sector has cornered the market on commercializing aspiration, spectacle and desire. Whether you work in law, finance, pharmaceuticals or in a non-profit, there is a need to sense the spirit of the times and to move with urgency to develop new products, programs and services.
In this interactive workshop, you will hear from a team of thought leaders about a new framework that will teach you “how to do it like a fashion designer” by exploring the activities and mindsets of the fashion industry.
To kick off this two-part session, Wendy Wurtzburger will discuss her role as Head Curator for Anthropologie Brands and how she uses the power of story in their retail merchandising strategy. This will be followed by an interactive session from Natalie Nixon, Johanna Blakley and Valerie Jacobs who will share their “Fashion Thinking” methods and how they can help re-invigorate your business.
Facilitators:
Johanna Blakley, PhD – Managing Director & Director of Research, The Norman Lear Center, University of Southern California
Valerie Jacobs – Vice President & Managing Creative Director of Trends at LPK
Natalie Nixon, PhD – Director, The Strategic Design MBA at Philadelphia University
Wendy Wurtzburger – Head Curator, Anthropologie Brands
