Thanks to the regional effort of our donors and volunteers last year, the Chamber purchased over
1,335 hardcover read-aloud books to replenish the libraries of participating schools — impacting
135 classrooms in 25 schools this year.
Contributions will provide
new and refurbished classroom libraries and book bags to low-income schools for the 2018 – 2019 school year,
teacher workshops for best practices on early literacy, and
reading tips to parents and caregivers.
During the Chamber’s 14th Annual Read to Me Storyteller Event, participating storytellers will spend the morning reading a selected book to a classroom of Philadelphia school children following a networking breakfast with other business and community leaders.
This year storytellers will be reading
Maybe Something Beautiful: How Art Transformed a Neighborhood by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell.
