YPC Volunteer Event for Comcast Cares Day

Saturday, April 21, 2018
8:30 AM – 1:00 PM Program

Logan Elementary School
1700 Lindley Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19141
The 17th Annual Comcast Cares Day with YPC celebrates the culmination of Comcast Cares’ year-round commitment to improving communities through service.

Please join us for a day of community service on the 17th annual Comcast Cares Day. This year, we will be volunteering at the Logan Elementary School. Roll up your sleeves and help support our Philadelphia schools. Volunteers will build five raised garden beds and plant herbs and vegetables to be used to teach healthy cooking classes for families and community members. Volunteers will also clean up the school property (litter patrol) and make minor improvements that will have a big impact on the children and the neighborhood.

Background:
James Logan Elementary is located in the section Logan section of North Philadelphia. Last summer in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, Logan Elementary was selected by the Mayor as one of the nine participants in the City’s Community Schools initiative. This effort marks a new approach for how the City supports students and families, strengthens schools, and revitalizes neighborhoods.
