Having operated for twenty years with a website that lacked interactive capabilities, CLC reached out to Key Medium for help. Ali Jaffar, CEO and Lead Developer at Key Medium, worked with CLC leadership to design a dynamic new website that would help CLC better serve the more than one thousand learners per year who enroll in CLC classes hoping to build a better life.\n\n“The big thing that stood out was CLC’s standing as one of the State’s top learning centers that also partners to support career readiness–and educational attainment is really an important indicator of a strong workforce, so we naturally support the mission,” Jaffar said."},{"attributes":{"blockquote":true},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nThe Coding For Causes program by Key Medium has currently awarded over $91,000 since being established in 2017 and has affected over 100k people. Previous grant recipients have included nonprofit organizations such as Philadelphia Works, Community Integrated Services, and Philly Food Finder. The purpose-driven digital agency is dedicated to giving at least 20% of their profits to great causes like the Community Learning Center.\n\n“The current pandemic shines a spotlight on entrenched disparities affecting the thirty percent of low-literate adults in Philadelphia, many of whom are non-native English speakers. Imagine reading your mail, voting, or helping your children with homework with limited language abilities and no assistance,” explained CLC Executive Director, Kimmell Proctor. “With lower levels of funding for adult education expected in the months to come, we are so grateful to Key Medium’s award-winning team for their partnership in helping us address the critical educational needs of our community with a more efficient and mobile-friendly website. This new site will launch right at the time when we need it most in order to remain connected to the striving adults we serve.”"},{"attributes":{"blockquote":true},"insert":"\n"},{"insert":"\nIn response to COVID-19, CLC has implemented a laptop lending program to provide digital access to their learners and continues to provide remote classes and comprehensive educational services through distance learning.
